Well… here's the real story.
We just hosted our second Speed Networking event.
Yes, it was:
โจ Fun
โก Full of energy
๐ค A place where real connections were made
๐ฌ And I got some lovely feedback
And still…
๐ My communication in the run-up was a bit off.
๐ I had hoped to hold it outside, the group was large, and indoors felt like a recipe for heat and noise overload.
๐ Trying to be transparent, I told people to “layer up – we’re going outside come hell or high water.”
๐ Turns out... hell came with rain and freezing temperatures. ๐ฅถ
๐ The brave ones showed up ready for battle, but understandably, many opted out.
๐ Inside, the space just didn’t work as well this time.
๐ We’d used it before with no issues, but more people, different setup… it didn’t flow as well.
๐ I had to shout. I gave myself a headache. By round three, I gave up and we pivoted to casual networking.
Was it a successโ
Yes. 100%. And I’d do it again.
Was it smoothโ
Nope. And that’s ok.
I spent a moment listing all the ways it didn’t go to plan. But honestly, that’s where the learning happens.
If you don’t try, you don’t get to improve.
๐๏ธ If your event has a wobble, or feels like a flop to you, remind yourself:
You're doing the bravest part, you're showing up and putting yourself out there. Not so many people do. Keep going.
Still brave enough to join one of our upcoming events?? ๐คฃ
